Stretford

A sprinkle of Education

75% residents of Stretford are expected to take care of themselves

Thus inspired by the broken hearts carried consciously or unconsciously by the 'adults' who are expected to take care of themselves, this project is directed for the 'runaways' without excluding children. Priority may be given to the above 'socially isolated' hearts, but a heart broken can be caused by reasons as typical as having a bad day to losing someone. The focus would therefore be in the aftermath of such breakage; the running/healing/acceptance process.

It was a simple question asked during the pop-up shop event to predict overcrowding perhaps; to keep the conversation moving from the familiarity of one's house to determining what's missing around it. Yet their honest answers unconsciously reveal a tiny portion of their personal stories, barely visible. So I wonder how much have they been affected by life.

Q: How Many People in the House?

“Just us two. The father died.”

“One here. two there (pointing at the neighbour).”

“Oh, I live alone.”

Children vs. 'Adults'

Children vs Adults

Whereas children of below 18 years old (making up the rest 25% of Stretford population) are concerned and generally cared for, an output of the event highlighted by the participation of a number of those children (42 out of 94 audiences interacted with).

"What about the 'adults' who are expected to take care of themselves?"
